They are both from Arlington, Texas and began making videos together during their lunch breaks while working at an architecture firm. They have created a variety of clips, ranging from comedy skits to recurring serialized episodes that they upload on YouTube. Alexander directs and edits the videos and Arthur usually acts and writes the screenplays. They gained their first notoriety in 2007 from Dallas based Pegasus News for their "Urban Explorers" videos and a short film called "Giving Back" which was part of an online video Christmas calendar. Matthew Farrington joined Rare Footage Films in 2008. He writes as well but specializes in special effects and props. They expanded their reportoire to entering film festivals and video contests. In 2009 CW-affiliated television station KDAF Channel 33 News featured their video "Traffic Trouble" while covering a local film contest (). Rare Footage Films also produced a film of the New Dallas Cowboys stadium () and a short architecture documentary called "The Falls". As of March 23, 2009, the group has released over 50 videos.
